Mixed Media Artist on a Journey of Self-Discovery.
Art has always been a big part of my life. As a child, I looked forward to receiving a colouring book and a new set of pens at Christmas. My summer holidays were spent, sketchbook in hand, drawing my surroundings.
As often happens, art took a backseat to living, and I went on to pursue a career in finance. After taking a break from my job to raise my girls, COVID allowed me to re-evaluate my choices. In 2021, I enrolled in a BA in Arts and Humanities, focusing on my two other passions: the Classics and English Literature. Still, it was only when I started a pottery course in 2023 that I truly felt grounded again. I had come back to my creative roots.
I am now experimenting, and this website will document my journey. My primary interest is understanding how people grow and develop, as well as the factors that influence our choices and the dreams we pursue. We live in a society where everything is on display. Influencers project a perfect image of what it means to be successful. However, life is more about learning from the mistakes we make and the trials and errors we encounter in our discoveries.
Inspired by Ann Blockley's 52-week project, I have been asked to create an experimental piece, 10 cm x 10 cm, every Tuesday.
As part of my FMP project exploring printing techniques I will be creating a series of 60 eraser stamps for the gallery below. The best thing about completing this over the course of the project was that each stamp was a direct influence from the material and artists I researched.
